The Andanças Festival was in the beginning of August with its already 20th edition! And so its main theme was the Challenge. 20 ”andanças” in challenge to think around several questions such as its main role in society.

But what is Andanças?

It is a unique festival in the country which promotes music and popular dancing and its concept is set in four pillars: Dance and Music, Volunteering, Community, and Environment/ Sustainability. Its main motto is dancing, presenting several dances and world music, always opened to more urban or contemporary expressions.

The festival was in Póvoa e Meadas dam, as it has been usual for several years, and it gathered hundreds of people with a common purpose of learning several kinds of dancing and practice what they had learned in night balls and music concerts.

The Andanças program was full of activities. Not only dancing and music but also with guiding visits, trekking, workshops and performances, all with joy and good mood! There were plenty of activities to do and we could even get time to bath in the dam’s waters!

The environmental issues are also a strong subject in Andanças. It promotes the experience of better practices during the week and in this way people carry on  their daily lives some small gestures which can make a difference!

The Andanças is a festival you can’t miss! For those who go for the first time will always want to come back!
