Sintra has this weekend a different festival – Aura Festival. Already on its second edition, its main goal is to bring literally to the town a new light, visiting it during night.
The Aura Festival will surprise you with a new enlighten path from Sintra Arts Museum (MUSA) to Quinta da Regaleira. The event will happen until Sunday and counts with an artistic circuit which includes a videomapping, installations inside classified buildings and a documentary about Sintra and residents, having as a main theme Stories of the Night.
This year there is a more involvement and participation in the public space, having an interaction with residents and local shopkeepers. Patrícia Freire, the festival’s art director, stated to Fugas the importance of this interaction: ‘’It isn’t interesting organizing a festival without people’s participation. Our focus is the reconciliation between them and the space where they are.’’
This relationship with the local community is also made through two documentary presentations Emotional Cartography which features stories and perceptions of the current and old Sintra’s residents.
The festival’s program counts with installations from national and international artists selected for this year’s edition. The videomapping at the National Palace’s façade, showing images of its interior, is from the Portuguese artists Oskar&Gaspar. From Germany Carlos Abreu and Alfred Kurz will bring to light the Mourisca Fountain and the Portuguese collective, Rethorica Studio, will present an installation in Quinta da Regaleira and Miradouro da Correnteza.
Set the date on your calendar. This festival will be until this Sunday from 09h00 pm until 00h30 am. If you would like to go by car the Festival organization advises you to park it at the parking area. You can also go by train. The train company CP is also a partner of the festival and is selling 2€ tickets bought from 7:00 pm.
