The British newspaper The Telegraph has made a list of the most beautiful cruize rivers in Europe and Douro is among them.
Twisting the north of the Iberian Penisula from the south of Bilbao, arriving in the city of Porto, showing spectacular landscapes, Douro appears with another international nomination among the most beautiful cruise rivers in Europe. Its evident charms gave this river the classification of World’s Heritage by UNESCO with its vineyards on the valley, charming Quintas, beautiful patrimony. It is nowadays one of the most searched destinies for river cruises.
The Telegraph highlights places to visit like the city of Porto, mainly the wine cellars and the view from Vila Nova de Gaia. It refers as well that some itineraries can take the tourists to get to know near cities such as Guimarães. As compulsory stops, the British newspaper indicates Mateus Palace and the Quinta of Seixo, home to the port wine brand Sandeman. At the top of visits The Telegraph mentions the village of Castelo Rodrigo place with many battles between Portugal and Spain but nowadays a quiet and peaceful village.
