The 8th edition of Lisbon in the Street arrived with music, art and entertainment in different public spaces from the city. From fado to jazz, to outside cinema, art and literature, the event has already begun in Jardim do Arco do Cego with FES – Flat Earth Society da Bélgica. We peeped at the program and we are anxious to go see everything. Here are some suggestions by Fora da Rota Tours.

1. Jazz – The Big Band Art

There are five jazz concerts of different origins, repertoires and sound which will take place in the gardens and squares of Lisbon. The event counts, on the 25th of August, with the presence of the international FES – Flat Earth Society da Bélgica, and the rookies of the Big Band Estarre jazz and the Orchestra de Jazz from Algarve. Returning artists are the Orchestra of Jazz of Hot Club Portugal and the Orchestra of Jazz from Leiria.
1st of September at 19h – Largo de São Carlos – Big Band Estarre jazz
8th of September at 19h – Orquestra de Jazz do Hot Club de Portugal
15th of September at 19h – Parque das Conchas – Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve

2. I am from Fado

This year’s edition of ‘I am from Fado’ counts on the presence of Gisela João, Camané and Carlos do Carmo, voices that belong to three different generations of Fado, worth listening to.

3. Cinema City

A new cinema cycle will lighten the night in the Palácio Pimenta, under the theme ‘The lights of the city’.

4. Lisboa Soa – Sonora Art Festival

Having as a stage the amazing scenery of Tapada das Necessidades, this festival reveals an exposition of interactive sound art that leads to learning and reflection on the sound of the environment that surrounds us, allowing us to walk through the garden ears wide open. The greenhouse will hold several shows and concerts.
5. Rhapsody in the Street
On the 3rd of September, at 21h30 in Terreiro do Paço, the Orchestra Gulbenkian will offer its audience a repertoire that crosses through the European Romanticism, and ends with the American jazz. Jean-Marc Burfin will be in charge of the event, and the concert will have the masterly Mário Laginha playing the piano.
