The Santo António festivities are not over! More parties, more concerts and events are about to liven up this weekend. If you don’t already have plans, we have some more recommendations for you. Who’s your friend now, eh? Fora da Rota, of course 🙂
Lisbon’s festivities are here to stay and warm up the city some more. For this weekend, we suggest music, a trip to Japan and some football time, not to neglect the UEFA championship.
Here are our proposals:
17th to 19th of June – Arraial Sem Fronteiras
Mouraria is the most multicultural neighbourhood in the city, where boundaries do not exist. Associação Renovar a Mouraria’s proposal, that celebrates yet another year of Arraial dedicated to the music of the world, consists of all the good things you can find here, like roasted sardine, bifanas, basil, Santo António and samosas. All’s good to go and this weekend’s program looks promising: on Friday Chalo Correia, on Saturday FFFFF, and on Sunday Tião Duá. Free entrance.
18th of June – Festa do Japão
The sixth edition of Festa do Japão will be celebrated this year in Parque das Nações, between Meo Arena and the Pavilhão de Portugal. A lot of activities are expected to take place – from contests to demonstrations of martial arts, and Japanese gastronomy. Dongara group will be performing traditional music, playing to the sounds of drums. Free entrance. More information here.
18th of June – Portugal vs Austria
This is the period the city suddenly stops to watch football. And even those who are not fans get carried away, with a scarf around their necks, when football matches go live. It is a national pride to be in the front line. If you’re not heading to France, you can watch the matches live from Alameda or Terreiro do Paço. If you prefer a cheap place that offers lupin beans and beer, check Zoomato for locations.
18th of June – Alameda Pop
Still a part of the Festas de Lisboa, after the football match, there is live music with Electro Love in Alameda. The group’s musical style is between rock, electronic and folk. And it already established itself a name in the Portuguese music. Free entrance.
19th of June – Faz Música
The Festas de Lisboa continue! This weekend we there is more music, satisfying all tastes. The Faz Música festival is at its 6th edition, and part of the international Fête de la Musique. The event is celebrating music in charming spaces, counting on 50 professional and amateur bands, mixing several styles – blues, fado, the music of the world or rock music. The entire program here.
