Events in Lisbon – What to see this week
Staying in Lisbon this week? You might find the city small but you will definitely feel lost with so many events happening this week! It’s the Nights at the museum, the Iberian mask festival, lighthouses opened for visitors and so much more! Here are few of our suggestions:
1. International Museum’s day and nights at the museums
The International Museum’s day is on 18th May with free entrance in all museums and the day after, the 19th, they will have their doors opened at night with several activities, music performances, theatre, guiding visits and so much more. You can check the program here.
2. Iberian mask festival
This is the 13th edition of the Iberian mask festival, bringing tradition and rituals of the use of the mask, still present in the Iberian Peninsula. This year’s festival counts with the parade of several groups, even from Brazil and Ireland. You can also participate in workshops and listen to music performances. More information here.
3. Visiting a lighthouse
To commemorate the Navy’s day, the lighthouses are opened for visitors during this week until 20th May. It’s a unique opportunity to visit and get to know how this beautiful towers by the sea work. Nearby Lisbon you can go to Sintra and visit the famous Cabo da Roca lighthouse at the most Western point of continental Europe. It will be opened between 2 and 5 pm.
4. WordPress photo
Word Press Photo exhibition is in Lisbon until 20th May. So if you haven’t seen it yet, this is the opportunity to see the awarded photos! It’s in Hub Creativo do Beato, a neighborhood which is getting more and more trendy., so it’s also a chance for you to get to know a place which is more off the beaten track.
